Assembly seemed a little involved, but my father and uncle put it together in about an hour. It looks great and keeps all the shoes neat - also looks great with the matching overhead cubby/coat rack. Can't fit big winter boots, but that's to be expected since the cubbies are on the small side. But there's a lot of them which is great. Bench seems quite sturdy, even though my father thought it might not be. It does not look like a cheap piece of furniture. It is sturdy and elegant, as far as shoe cubby benches go. There were a few issues, however. First, the bench arrived almost 2 weeks past it's "anticipated" arrival date. Additionally, athough it was relatively easy to put together, putting the slats together for the shoe holder was EXTREMELY difficult. It was supposed to take "2 minutes" and it took almost an hour for that part alone. The slats were so tight, it was impossible to get them all the way to the edge. Therefore, they stick out of the back and I was unable to place the back cover on the bench. I tried everything, from a hammer to wiggling them back and forth (which seemed to help more than anything. Hopefully, we'll find some way to get them into place. Also, there is glue on the front edges of the boards. Yet, this can be wiped off relatively easily. They do provide a marker, which can be used to cover any spots where the... I put it together myself in about half an hour, an hour if you count the time to vacuum the particle dust from the package and wipe down the pieces before putting together. It wasn't difficult but I used a screw gun. The only thing I didn't like about it was the shelving. They seemed to have gummy residue on them that was fine was I gently scraped it off. They're also a little rough at the edges but all in all - I'm very happy with the outcome. |
